April Flowers at Bramble Cottage

April sees a lot of colour in the garden with spring really underway at last

Hyacinths are a favourite of mine – I love the structure of the flower with the little tubular bells packed so tightly together and the wonderful scent! Hellebores are still doing well, lovely shades of plumy pinks and white…

Narcissi really come into their own early in April, there are so many different forms but the delicate white Thalia and the double lemon-coloured Obdam are particularly fine and look so good in Spring bouquets

Anemones are another Spring flower grown here at Bramble Cottage along with the glorious ranunculus, just the most beautiful flower with layers and layers of delicate petals and such a range of colours…

…they look so good in bouquets with other spring flowers

I grow lots of different tulips here at Bramble Cottage and like to try something new each year

I especially like the double tulips Blue Diamond and the peachy Menton Exotica…customers have sometimes mistaken them for peonies!

Towards the end of the month lilac, aquilegias, fluffy Thalictrum and Sweet Rocket are flowering, the soft colours look lovely together…

April is such an exciting month in the garden…

…the flowers are so fresh and new with the start of the season and so welcome after the dull days of winter!
